Recruiting Buzz: Massive Recruiting Weekend For Texas Tech

This weekend some of Texas' top track talents were in Lubbock, Texas together, and it wasn't for a track meet. Some 2018 and 2019 top recruits went to Texas Tech University for official and unofficial visits.

Jump stars D.J HENDERSON from Cedar Hill Trinity Christian and JASMINE MOORE of Mansfield Lake Ridge were two of the recruiting targets that were present. Last season, Henderson wasn't known until the  TTFCA Meet of Champions where he went 23-11 and back doored that performance up with a 25-5 at the

Great Southwest Classic. Mrs. All-World Moore had another good season that saw her defend her UIL 5A titles, set sophomore class records, and ultimately go on to earn the bronze medal at the World Pan American Junior Games.

Also winning a medal (Gold) at the Pan American Junior Games and also on the recruiting visit was Houston Langham Creek's ERIC EDWARDS. Edwards capitalized on a junior season that is going to be hard for anyone to top this upcoming season.

Texas sprint studs and Dallas area athletes ALEXIS BROWN of Kennedale, BAILEY LEAR of Frisco Heritage, and SHA'CARRI RICHARDSON of Dallas Carter were also taking in the Texas Tech atmosphere and sights.

Lone Star high school athletes weren't the only big time recruits in Lubbock this weekend. Jamaican National Junior team member and JUCO stud Odaine Lewis was also on the visit. Lewis is a big time jumper and looks to add depth to the Red Raiders track and field team. Texas Tech must be looking to really bolster it's jumping crew as Colorado jump specialist Jequan Hogan was also present as was Virginia state long jump and triple jump champ Titiana Marsh.

The Red Raid aren't done with that. Later this month, they are bringing in 400m stud and Arizona state champ TYREES MOULTON. Moulton has gone 46.51, which is the second fastest time ever in the state of Arizona.

The Texas Tech coaching staff has really hit the recruiting scene hard this season and that comes off of the back of a couple of consecutive great recruiting classes.

Their 2017 class was loaded as they added Chloe CavazosG'auna Edwards, Daja GordonKaylor HarrisSean Hooper, Josiah Macinis, and Dalton Rigdon. If they don't build a national championship team in the near future, it won't be from not trying.
