A freshman earned top National Girls Performer of the Week honors for the period spanning Sept. 30-Oct. 6.

In winning MileSplit's weekly recognition, Cornwall (NY) High School first-year Karrie Baloga became the first freshman of the 2019 cross country season to take the crown.

And she earned it.

Baloga raced smartly at the Paul Short Run on Oct. 5, taking the overall win in 16:59.70, which was her first effort under 17 minutes -- and probably not her last.

A big congrats goes out to Baloga, and all of our other nominees.

Now let's move on to Week 6 of our National Girls Performer of the Week poll. This week's voting will cover efforts from October 7th through October 13th.

Vote for whom you think should win this week's national honor following a big week of action. Voting will end Friday, and we'll recognize the winner every Monday during the unveiling of the newest poll.

Below we have eight girls nominees for this week's top honor. Vote below in the poll and let us know your thoughts in the comments. For reference, check out our Top 250 Performances of the Week. You can also vote in our National Boys Performer of the Week poll
