Jago's Simpson shines at JC

ST Jago High's Class Three athlete,
Kamali Simpson, showed good form at the WATA/JC Invitational Track and
Field meet yesterday.

The Danny Hawthorne-coached
athlete was impressive in the 100 metres hurdles with a good time of
14.16 seconds for the best time overall in the
event.

He returned to finish second, behind Kingston
College's (KC) Nathaniel Bann in the 100 metres in 11.48 seconds, as
Bann won with 11.45. He closed off a good day by clearing 1.75 metres in
the high jump for another second place.

"I am very
pleased with my results and to know that this is my first year in the
class, I am even happier and I am looking forward to the remainder of
the season," said Simpson who credited his hard training over last
summer for his improved performance.

boys' Class Two
110m hurdles win

St Jago had another win in the boys'
Class Two 110m hurdles as Rojay Jackson Chin clocked 14.76 to finish
ahead of the Jamaica College (JC) duo of, Shamar Morrison (15.04) and
Obrian Waysome (15.09).

KC's Javaire Atkinson won the
Class One 110m hurdles in 15.11 as Zaine Fearon (15.04) of JC was second
and KC's Davian Baker, 15.66, third.

JC's athletes
dominated the jumps in all classes. In the Class One long jump Sharlanjo
Nelson won with 7.11m ahead of his teammate, Gavin Gibson (7.01m) and
St Jago's Krishna Christie, 6.87m.

James takes Class
Two long jump

Ajanie James took Class Two with 6.73m
ahead of teammate Clayton Brown, 6.54m. In Class Three, JC's Johni James
made it a clean sweep for the hosts with a winning jump of
6.15m.

Among the girls, Camperdown High's Class Two
athlete, Peta-Gaye Williams led the way. Williams clocked the fastest
time among females in the 100m stopping the clock at 11.86 to get the
better of Edwin Allen High's Tasheca Stanley, 11.96 and Shimayra
Williams of Clarendon College, 12.03.

St Jago took the
top three places in the Class One 100m. Melissa Williams won in 12.07
to get the better of Shanell Francis, 12.15 and Tatiana Wolfe,
12.24.

Hydel High athletes dominated the Class Three
and Four 100m. In Class Three Taquece Duggan won in 12.47, ahead of
Edwin Allen's Racquel Gayle, 12.49. In Class Four Shannell English won
in 12.47 ahead of Vere Technical's Kiona Bradshaw,
12.50.
