Jamaican high school athlete Javon Francis made history in the month of June when he clocked a personal best and junior world leading 45.24 seconds to finish second in the men’s 400m Jamaica’s National Senior Championships at Kingston’s National Stadium.

World record holder Usain Bolt cruised to victory in the men’s 100m at the Jamaica Senior Athletics Championships in Kingston on Friday evening. Bolt who posted 10.03 seconds in winning the first of the semi-finals pulled ahead mid-race to post 9.94 seconds for victory ahead of his Racer’s Track Club team mate Kemar Bailey-Cole in 9.98 seconds and Nickel Ashmeade in 9.99 seconds.

Several Jamaican athletes were in the winner’s circle at the NCAA Division One Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

Natoya Goule prepared for the country’s national championships at the end of the month by winning the women’s 800m outdoor Goule became the first Louisiana State University Lady Tiger to win both indoor and outdoor titles after capturing the event in a personal best 2:00.06 – the fourth fastest time in LSU history.
